Leclerc leads Imola FP1 Verstappen struggles
Charles Leclerc topped the opening practice at Imola with a 1:16.990 lap, ahead of George Russell and Carlos Sainz. Red Bulls Perez and Verstappen followed closely.
Charles Leclerc topped the charts in a sunny opening practice session at Imola, clocking a lap time of 1:16.990. He outpaced George Russell and his Ferrari teammate, Carlos Sainz.
Russell trailed Leclerc by just over a tenth, while Sainz was 0.130 seconds behind his teammate.
Red Bull's Sergio Perez and Max Verstappen took fourth and fifth places, with Perez leading. Verstappen had a tough session and ended up a quarter of a second behind Leclerc.
Yuki Tsunoda delivered an impressive performance, securing sixth for RB, ahead of Lewis Hamilton, who finished seventh.
Miami Grand Prix winner Lando Norris recorded the eighth fastest time, followed by McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri and Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso, who finished ninth and 10th respectively.
Haas Reserve Driver Ollie Bearman placed 15th, marking the first of six FP1 sessions for the young Brit in 2024.
