SCUDERIA ALPHATAURI

History

Scuderia AlphaTauri is a Formula 1 team that was founded in 2006 as Scuderia Toro Rosso.

Originally established as the junior team of Red Bull Racing, the team's purpose was to serve as a training ground for drivers before promoting them to the senior team.

Throughout its history, the team has consistently been in the lower half of the pack, with a focus on development rather than results.

In 2008, Sebastian Vettel made history with the team by taking pole position and winning the race at Monza, the team's first and only win under the Scuderia Toro Rosso marque.

The team went on to achieve two more podiums in 2019 with Daniil Kvyat in Germany and Pierre Gasly in Brazil, leading to a sixth-place finish in the championship, matching the team's best performance from Vettel's 2008 season.

In 2020, the team was rebranded as AlphaTauri by Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz, reflecting the company's new venture in the fashion world.

The rebranding did not impact the team's performance, as Gasly won the Italian Grand Prix at Monza.

The following year, Yuki Tsunoda joined the team, marking Honda's desire to bring a Japanese driver into Formula 1.

Despite a strong start, Tsunoda struggled to maintain his form, while Gasly broke the 100-point barrier for the first time in his career and added another podium finish.

Going into the 2022 season, AlphaTauri had high hopes with the budget cap and new technical regulations in effect, but the team finished 9th in the Constructors' standings with just 35 points.

The following year, Gasly moved to Alpine, and AlphaTauri enlisted Nyck de Vries, who impressed in his stand-in performance with Williams.

Despite consistently being in the lower half of the pack, the team has achieved memorable moments in its history, such as Vettel's pole position and race win at Monza in 2008 and Gasly's Italian Grand Prix win in 2020.
