McLaren's fuel system passes extensive FIA scrutiny after Monaco GP
McLaren's low-pressure fuel system underwent rigorous inspection by the FIA following the Monaco Grand Prix, passing all checks for compliance with the 2024 F1 Technical Regulations.
Technical inspection
In a routine post-race procedure, the FIA conducted an extensive inspection of Lando Norris' McLaren MCL38 chassis, specifically focusing on the low-pressure fuel system.
This random inspection was carried out on one of the top 10 finishers from the Monaco Grand Prix, as per Article 5.11 and Article 6 of the 2024 Technical Regulations.
Conformity confirmed
FIA technical delegate Jo Bauer confirmed that the inspected components were found to be in full conformance with the current Formula One Technical Regulations.
The examination included physical inspections at the circuit and further compliance checks at the FIA Technical Centre in Valleiry.
Team submissions evaluated
In addition to the physical inspections, the FIA evaluated McLaren's submission in accordance with Technical Directive TD001H 3.1, which outlines the requirements for the low-pressure fuel system.
Speculation addressed
The inspection comes amidst speculation from Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc, who had suggested that McLaren and Red Bull might be employing unconventional methods with their energy and engine systems.
However, no evidence has been found to support these claims.
Championship standings
McLaren's strong performance in recent races has propelled them to third place in the Constructors' Championship with 184 points, trailing Ferrari by 68 points and Red Bull by 92 points.
As the Formula One paddock heads to the Canadian Grand Prix, McLaren's successful clearing of the FIA's rigorous inspections reinforces their commitment to adhering to the sport's technical regulations while maintaining their competitive edge on the track.
