Max Verstappen takes Sprint pole at the Miami GP
Max Verstappen secured pole for the Miami GP Sprint, edging out Leclerc and Perez. Ricciardo impressed in 4th, while Mercedes struggled, with Russell 11th and Hamilton 12th.
Red Bull's Max Verstappen secured the top starting position for the Miami Grand Prix Sprint, narrowly outpacing Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc, who managed to qualify between the two Red Bull teammates.
Verstappen's blistering lap time of 1:27.641s in the final qualifying session (SQ3) was enough to claim pole position, with Leclerc trailing by a tenth of a second and Sergio Perez, Verstappen's teammate, a further tenth behind.
RB's Daniel Ricciardo put in a remarkable performance, securing fourth place on the grid, while Carlos Sainz rounded out the top five.
Oscar Piastri and the two Aston Martin drivers followed closely behind. Despite showing promise in the earlier qualifying segments, Lando Norris committed an error in the first sector of his final lap, resulting in a disappointing ninth-place start.
Mercedes struggled in qualifying, with both drivers failing to advance to the pole position shootout.
George Russell narrowly missed out, qualifying 11th, while his teammate Lewis Hamilton could only manage 12th place on the grid.
