Christian Horner faces new challenges as confidential documents surface online
Yesterday, Christian Horner was cleared of wrongdoing by an independent investigation into allegations made against the Red Bull team principal by a female employee.
However, anonymous emails were distributed today to over 100 senior Formula 1 personnel, aiming to discredit Horner by leaking alleged evidence related to the case.
Bbc reports that the alleged messages from the Google Drive have been brought to the attention of the FIA and it is discussing the matter with F1 management.
The confidential dossier of documents was sent via anonymous email addresses with the message “Following Red Bull’s recent investigation and statements you will be interested to see the materials attached.”
The anonymous email has disseminated a Google Drive link to hundreds of journalists, team principals, Liberty Media, Stefano Domenicali.
The link contains WhatsApp messages and various photos purportedly serving as evidence against Christian Horner.
Christian Horner issued a statement responding to the leak of information:
"I won't comment on anonymous speculation, but to reiterate, I have always denied the allegations."
"I respected the integrity of the independent investigation and fully cooperated with it every step of the way.
"It was a thorough and fair investigation conducted by an independent specialist barrister and it has concluded, dismissing the complaint made."
In an earlier statement, Horner said: "I have always denied the allegations."
The manner of this evidence leak indicates certain individuals remain intent on discrediting Horner despite his clearance.
With the emails arriving just 24 hours after Horner was exonerated, during F1 testing, the timing suggests a deliberate attempt to destabilize Horner and Red Bull.
