Brad Pitt's F1 Film presents exciting challenge for Formula 1
Stefano Domenicali, the F1 CEO, has acknowledged the challenges that the upcoming Brad Pitt film about the world of Formula 1 will present. Set to begin production in the coming weeks, the movie will be "quite invasive" on Grand Prix weekends, with the filming taking place around real race events.
New Film Raises Awareness for F1
The untitled movie, produced by the team behind Top Gun: Maverick, features Lewis Hamilton as a producer and consultant.
The film is another step in raising awareness of the sport, with Liberty Media CEO Greg Maffei emphasizing that Formula 1 cannot rely solely on the Netflix series Drive to Survive for long-term promotion.
Domenicali addressed F1 investors, stating that the film is "another way to show what we want to do, something different."
He highlighted the importance of embracing different promotional tools, such as social media and movie production, to maintain the sport's momentum.
Balancing Filming and Racing Action
As the film's production team, including Brad Pitt, producer Jerry Bruckheimer, and director Joseph Kosinski, work closely with F1 teams, Domenicali stresses the need to "control" the production to ensure it doesn't interfere with the racing action during race weekends.
F1's collaboration with Netflix initially faced skepticism from the community, but its success has shown the power of such partnerships.
Domenicali aims to capitalize on this momentum with the upcoming film, which will be the first to shoot within the racing event, to showcase that "F1 never stops."
A Fresh Approach to F1 Promotion
Maffei highlighted the importance of keeping promotional strategies fresh and diverse, saying, "You’ve got to keep it fresh, change the game."
He noted that the movie, with Brad Pitt, Lewis Hamilton, Jerry Bruckheimer, and the director from Top Gun: Maverick, would bring the sport to a "whole other level."
The film's production will incorporate technology from Top Gun, promising to deliver an exciting and engaging portrayal of the world of Formula 1.
As the movie gears up to start shooting at Silverstone, fans and the racing community alike eagerly anticipate the impact of this new cinematic venture on the sport.
